This workshop is catered to those starting out in the art world, allowing them to design and complete their own painting using acrylic paints. Participants will be introduced to a variety of techniques associated with the paint medium. The workshop is designed to help students use perspective aspects to pencil-draw their picture design on paper. This image will evolve onto a canvas, resulting in a canvas painting the artist can be proud of.
The class will begin with practical advice regarding paint selection, and preparing surfaces for painting. Tips on selecting and looking after brushes and palettes will be given, along with advice on choosing colours, how to mix colours accurately, and how to modify colours within a painting. Further explanations will also focus on on how to thin or thicken paint, speed up or slow down drying time, and create textured ground or even-toned washes.
In compliance with Workshop Health & Safety regulations, all participants must wear closed-in shoes and an apron. Lunch is not provided, though tea and coffee will be available.
Students will learn the following techniques:
