Beginner Painting Class with Chris Sullivan
Learning to draw and paint is by no means difficult. Everybody has learnt to walk, talk, read and write at a young age. Learning to draw and paint is less difficult than them all. Drawing and painting are only mark making on paper/canvas, representing a visual experience.
A desire to draw and paint is the starting point to this art-form. All that is required includes a little persistence, an ability to observe and a willingness to correct mistakes. Mistakes are not bad. They give us opportunity to get better. Consistent practice and regular repetition of techniques learnt enable you to draw and paint competently.
Painting techniques are learnt through experimenting, mixing and applying colours to form positive and negative forms. It enables us to change the body and visual effects of colour combinations.
Working with other artists helps your progress and shows you how to become a good critic of your work and others. All this experience helps you to draw towards your strengths and builds on your weaknesses eliminating the gaps in your knowledge and expertise whenever you can.
