When you look at a finished painting you can usually tell whether it has been done in watercolour, pastel or oils. Acrylics tends to hide its identity due to it being so versatile and this is the charm of using the medium. Acrylic paint has only been around since the mid 20th century and artists can do almost anything with it. You can paint on most surfaces, use the paint thin or thick applying it with a pallet knife or brush and combine it with other media. This workshop will guide participants through colour mixing acrylics and applying mixed media to create an Impressionist artwork. Art history will be discussed regarding this wonderful period in art all while using techniques using brush, pallet knives and mixed media. Participants will complete an artwork using the impressionist method. Brush techniques, including texture mediums will be shown during the painting process. Participants will draw and create their image on day one along with painting the under layer. Day two participants will complete the final layers on their canvas. |
