When he just two years old, Trung’s family escaped from communist Vietnam on their 14 meter fishing boat with 48 other relatives. After a dangerous sea journey, they landed in Malaysia and were granted a place in Australia.
However adjusting to his life in Australia was not so easy. After settling into west end, he never really felt like he found a place to fit in. Struggling with is Vietnamese life and his Australian life, he found acceptance with the wrong crowd. His life spiralled out of control and he ended up incarcerated for 6 years. It was the wake up call he needed. After a divine encounter he was able to break free from drug addition and the life that he used to live. It’s been 16 years now and Trung is a qualified Drug and Alcohol counsellor and will soon be a personal fitness trainer. He continually tells his story to other men who were caught in the same cycle. He now had a future and a purpose.
