Size: 27cm x 40cm

Jethro was just 21 when he stepped on a landmine in Vietnam while working as a field engineer. The landmine killed two of his friends and wounded several others. For Jethro, he lost one leg, one hand and most of his fingers. The challenges of his life didn’t end when he returned from war. He lost his wife Judy to cancer at just 31. Jethro found himself the sole carer of five very young children. Hanging nappies on the Hills Hoist was just one of the daily challenges he faced. Later marrying war widow Perle they now had 7 children between them.
The plight of Vietnam Veterans was recognised amongst peers but ignored by government and the RSL at the time. An association of Vietnam Veterans was established and Jethro left his job to become a full time advocate for his mates. He joined Legacy to help other service widows and their children. It was the least he could for them.
He published his memoirs “A Vietnam Veteran’s Remarkable Life – The True Meaning of Mateship” and has been awarded the Order of Australia for his work with veterans.
